This major cultivates advanced specialized talents who have a good grasp of the fundamental theories and methods of optoelectronics and optics, and have strong abilities of experiment and computer application. The undergraduates can do works of research, teaching, and scientific and technological development in the fields of optoelectronics, photoelectric detection and display, optical lens designment, optical communication, and information processing technology.

 

The students in this major mainly study the fundamental theories and methods of optoelectronics, optics, and information processing, and have good foundations of mathematics, physics and experimental skills. With some basic trainings in fundamental research, applied research, technology development, and engineering technology, the undergraduates can have good scientific quality and knowledge updating ability, and meet the needs of the development of high technology.

 

Core courses: higher mathematics, general physics (mechanics, optics, electromagnetics, thermology, atomic physics), electrodynamics, quantum mechanics, mathematical methods, applied optics, linear electronic circuit, pulse digital circuit, technology and application of single chip, laser technology, detection and processing of photoelectric signal, photoelectric display technology, foundations of information optics, design of photoelectric system and electronic circuit CAD, principle and technology of optical communication.
